Hello

Matthew Ballard

Creative technologist

Bring me a problem that doesn't have a spec yet. I'll shape it into a plan, then ship something people actually use.

01 · I build

Websites and tools that customers use every day, for Bass Pro Shops, Ozarks Tech and more.

02 · I translate

I sit between the business and the build. A loose request becomes a clear plan, and the finished work still answers the question that was asked.

03 · I find answers

When the information someone needs isn't written down in one place, I go and assemble it, from public records to years of chat history.

04 · I make it memorable

Through my studio, Shadow Canon, I build immersive, interactive interfaces for brands and products, from marketing activations to museum kiosks.

In short

I build websites people rely on, then make them faster, easier to find and better at turning visits into bookings. I did that for four destination sites at Bass Pro Shops and for the college website at Ozarks Tech, and I do it now for clients through my own studio, Majoba Solutions.

Knowledge graph

Memory Bot

What it is

A Discord bot that reads years of a friend group's history and builds a knowledge graph out of it: the people, what they talked about, the events they went to and the memes they made. Every point is linked to the messages and photos behind it, keeping the moments that defined a friendship easy to find, so memories aren't lost to time.

How it works

The scrapbook

What the graph turns into for the group: every inside joke with the conversation that started it, every big night with its photos, and what everyone was talking about on this day, years ago.

Shown with a made-up friend group, so no real messages appear here. The memes are classic templates captioned with the group's in-jokes, and the photos (from Unsplash) stand in for the ones shared in the chat. Built with Python, a read-only Discord bot, Antfly and a phone-friendly web viewer.

Research for a long-term health care company

Lead Gen

The short version

A long-term health care company was looking for new business with nursing homes, but what they most needed to know about each facility isn't published anywhere. I pieced it together from public records and gave their team insights they couldn't get on their own, so they knew where to start and who to reach out to next.

  1. 01Public records

Gathered from many sources, all public.

  2. 02Connected

Matched up facility by facility, across sources.

  3. 03Insights

What the records add up to, but never say outright.

  4. 04Verified leads

Confirmed accurate against the client's active clients.

The client
A long-term health care company. Their name and everything I found stay private under an NDA.
The problem
They needed to understand nursing homes before reaching out, and the information that mattered wasn't written down in any one place.
What I did
Worked through public records, connected the pieces across sources, and turned them into insights about each facility.
Proven accurate
The leads were checked against sample data sets from the client's own active clients, and confirmed accurate.
How it helped
Their team went from an open question to leads they could trust and act on: a clear place to start and a short list of who to contact next.
What it shows
Research, data synthesis, validating the results, and turning a loose business question into something a sales team can use.

Shadow Canon™

Immersive interfaces, built to spec.

What it is

Shadow Canon is my studio. I build working computers that look and feel like the real thing: some recreate machines from films and stories, others are built around real programs, like NASA's Artemis missions. Every one runs right in a web browser, from the boot screen to the blinking cursor.

Because they actually work, they can do more than look good: teach at a museum kiosk, become the computer players have to hack to break out of an escape room, or pull fans into a launch.
